What are you planning on doing this Saturday? Nothing yet?  How about spending the afternoon at a block-party with International star OMI, before checking out his concert on Sunday .  He is in town this weekend for his show at the Grey Eagle and Casino on May 1st, (click here for tickets)  but will be making appearances throughout the weekend. We heard it through the grapevine that he'll be at the Thirsty Turtle  (7337 Sierra Morena Bld SW) on Saturday for a 'Jamaican Style Blocko' party presented by VidaLash . This is 2nd half of this year's monster mix of music celebrating Trinidad and Tobago Carnival 2016 . Outside of the big hits there were quite a few 'riddims' that had our heads nodding all season long. And as much as 'Groovy' dominated the airwaves, there were a few 'Power' songs of note as well (including this year's Road March) Take in both of Drew Atlas' mixes to re-live the best of this year's festival!

Its no secret that Groovy Soca dominated this year's Trinidad Carnival . This is part 1 of a 2 part mix of the best of this year's celebration compiled by CalgarySoca's Drew Atlas . It focuses on some of the biggest groovy tunes played throughout the season. Look for part 2 coming soon which will take you from J'ouvert to the 'Stage'   

Oh how time flies! For our 5th anniversary we got a new venue, more vibes, goodies, good friends, and great music! Saturday April 23 was our 2nd PREMIUM EVENT alongside the TriniVibe TV crew.  Its their 2nd anniversary and we're happy to continue the new tradition of the all RED party in April! This year we were at Local 522 Tickets holders enjoyed  Champagne , and other 'presents' we had got to giveway (including FREE tickets to do it again on the following Friday at Standard Night Club).   DJ 'Soca Sweetness' was on hand to play alongside CalgarySoca's Drew Atlas and DJ Majesti for a night of the best Soca and Reggae. Its our birthday party, and thanks to everyone that came out...and WORE RED!

With Spring around the corner there are quite a few events popping up that you should take note of.  Edmonton's 9th annual Cold Sweat fete , to  Biggie Irie in Concert, and some stand out Soca club events are all coming up! Thank you to everyone who came out to CalgarySoca's warm-up to Trinidad Carnival!  All the best Soca music for 2016 was brought to the Calgary audience with our FIRST FETE for CARNIVAL. Our Fantastic Friday was one week before the 'Real Deal' in T and T so for all those who headed down to Trinidad for Carnival celebrations, or those that couldn't make the trip this year, this party was a MUST. As promised, we focus on the 2016 Power Soca tunes this week. First we ease in with a few new groovy joints before we turn up the pace. By the 2nd half of the show, the studio turns into party central as we let the latest music grow on us. One listen and these will probably grow on you too. Enjoy!
